Whether you’re a frequent user of the Choice Privileges program or just an occasional guest, it’s worth keeping track of current Choice Privilege promotions.
Even if you don’t stay at Choice Hotels often, there’s a promotion worth knowing about Individual weekend benefits. (This promotion was formally called Your Extras, and the Your Extras terminology is still used on some parts of the Choice Hotels website.)
This promotion takes less than a minute to register, but once you’re registered you can get personalized benefits on every weeknight stay with Choice Hotels. These perks should provide at least a few dollars of extra value on each weekend night stay, so here’s what you need to know.
What are the Personalized Weeknight benefits?
Individual Weeknight benefits give you something extra when you check in on a points-eligible stay that includes a Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday night. To receive benefits on qualifying stays, you must opt-in to this program (instructions below) and select your reward selection on the Choice Hotels app or website.
You can only earn one Personal Weeknight Benefit on one reservation per day, and you can only earn one Personal Weeknight Benefit per qualifying point-eligible stay, regardless of the number of rooms, nights, check-ins, and checkouts. In particular, simply checking out of a hotel only to check back into the same hotel later that day will not give you an additional benefit.

You can change your earning choice at any time. However, you will receive benefits for each eligible investment based on your account selection prior to check-in. You will receive most benefits during your stay or immediately after the end of your stay, although airline miles may take up to six weeks to post from the end of your stay.

How do I register for individual weeknight benefits?
Even if you don’t have a Weeknight Choice investment planned, enroll now for personalized Weeknight benefits so you don’t miss out when investing in the future. Here’s how to do it:
- Log in to your Choice account, click on your name in the upper right corner and click on “My Profile”.
- Scroll to the “Your Additional Preferences” section and follow the prompts.
This is also the area of your account to visit if you want to change your preferences.
You only need to register for individual Weeknight benefits once. However, you must set your earning preference to Choice Privilege Points in your online account to earn personalized weeknight benefits. Here’s how to set your earning preference on Choice Privileges Points:
- Log in to your account, click on your name in the upper right corner and select “My Profile”.
- On the right side of the page, in the “Loyalty Programs” tile, click “Edit.”
- Select “Choice Privileges® Reward Points” as your earning preference and click “Save Earning Preferences”.
Finally, note that certain properties — Woodspring Suites locations, some third-party (non-Select) hotels and some MainStay Suites, Suburban Studios, Everhome Suites and Ascend Hotel Collection locations — do not participate in the Individual Weeknight Benefits program.

Bottom line
If you have a Choice Privilege account, you should register for Personalized Weeknight Benefits. The Earnings Starbucks Coffee Card will provide the best financial value for most US residents. However, I prefer to get Choice Privilege points because I think they offer the same value, and I don’t go to Starbucks very often.
The Personalized Weeknight Benefits program might not change your travel habits significantly, but it’s a good tie-breaker if you’re considering two hotels for a weeknight stay. In short, it’s worth spending a minute or two choosing the Personalized Weeknight Benefits program, if you haven’t already.
