In a move to broaden its appeal, Mysore on Friday inaugurated a two-day domestic travel mart. The initiative spearheaded by India Travel Mart Exhibition (ITME) aims to transform Mysore from a seasonal destination to a year-round attraction for tourists.
The focus goes beyond simply showcasing tourist attractions. The event serves as a platform for travel industry stakeholders to connect and collaborate, encouraging a stronger travel trade ecosystem.
ITME Director Parthasarathy Raju emphasized the wide reach of the event with 30 kiosks featuring participants from across India and also attracting international representation from Nepal and Thailand. This travel mart is a first for Mysore.
Elaborating on the strategy, Savita, Joint Director of Tourism, Mysore, explained that the participating travel companies will gain valuable knowledge about various destinations in and around Mysore. This new expertise will empower them to effectively promote Mysore as a tourism hub in their respective markets.
The event will bring together a range of industry professionals including hospitality sector stakeholders, travel and tour operators and others invested in the development of Mysore’s tourism industry.
