Oakland International Airport (OAK) is gearing up for a busy holiday season, with more than 500,000 passengers expected to travel through its terminals from Friday, December 20, to Monday, January 6. The busiest travel days are Friday, December 20, and forecast. Friday, Dec. 27, as tourists flock to and from the Bay Area.
To make the holiday travel experience even more festive, OAK offers a variety of seasonal amenities throughout the terminals, including live music performances, gift-wrapping stations and attractive holiday decorations. This festive touch is designed to spread the holiday spirit and enhance the airport experience for travelers.
Whether you’re jetting off for a winter break or returning home for the holidays, Auckland Airport is ready to welcome you with a festive spirit and a smooth travel experience.
“Our terminals are fully decked out in holiday decorations and we look forward to welcoming holiday travelers through the New Year,” says Auckland Port of Aviation Director Craig Simon. “We hope passengers will enjoy our gift-wrapping station and performances by local Bay Area musicians.”
Oakland Airport offers holiday cheer with free gift-wrapping and live music
This December, Auckland Airport is making holiday travel even more festive. On December 19, 20 and 23, a free gift-wrapping station will be available in the connector area between Terminals 1 and 2, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Passengers are encouraged to use this service to secure their gifts. . Ready for the season, although wrapped gifts should be handled with caution, as they may be opened during security checks. Along with gift-wrapping, airport staff will give out free candy and popcorn to travelers staying at the station.
To further spread the holiday spirit, local musicians will perform at the Terminal Connector through January 3 as part of the OAK Tunes in Terminal program. Musicians interested in participating can learn more on the airport’s website.
For those driving to the airport, parking reservations are strongly recommended. New customers can secure parking for as little as $14 per day by booking in advance at book.iflyoak.com. Early booking guarantees a spot, as non-reserved parking is limited. All parking lots are within walking distance of the terminal and visitors are advised to check the OAK website for parking updates.
This year, OAK also introduced two new dining options: Cancun Sabor Mexicano and A16 Pizza in Terminal 1. Additionally, renovations to Terminal 1, including check-in counters and restrooms, will continue throughout the festive season with minimal disruption to passengers.
