Hyatt Regency’s parent company announced on Wednesday that the brand’s first hotel in the Maldives will open by the end of 2027.

Hyatt signed a new management agreement with Singhahai for Hyatt Regency Samarafushi Maldives, which will be located on North Male Atoll. The all-villa Hyatt Regency Resort will be the third Hyatt property to open in the Maldives after the highly popular Park Hyatt Maldives Hadaha and Alila Kothaifaru Maldives. The Hyatt Regency Samarafushi Maldives will be a slightly more affordable option than its ultra-luxurious Park Hyatt and Alila siblings.

For more than 55 years, it has inspired Hyatt guests to seek personal connections and professional collaborations in more than 40 countries around the world,” said David Udell, Hyatt’s Group President, Asia-Pacific Region. said in a statement. “We are thrilled to partner with Singhahai to invite travelers to open their minds and hearts to new perspectives and experiences in the Maldives, one of the world’s most desirable resort destinations.”

Pricing and World of Hyatt award redemption details are yet to be released, but Hyatt Regency Samarafushi will be a 25-minute speedboat ride from Velana International Airport (MLE) in the Maldives. The resort’s location on North Male Atoll is known for diving and snorkeling; Guests will also be able to access popular surfing spots such as Pasta Point and Sultan.

The 24-acre property will include 130 beachfront, treetop and overwater villas, with private pools. Designed by Park + Associates, the project will lean towards Maldivian architecture and a light, natural color palette. A sunset bar, a beach club, a Japanese specialty restaurant and an all-day dining concept will keep guests well fed.

There will also be a kids’ club, marine and diving center, fitness pavilion, yoga deck and a spa with eight treatment rooms. Guests staying in Villas with Club Access at Hyatt Globalists and Hyatt Regency Samarafushi Maldives can enjoy complimentary refreshments at the resort’s exclusive Regency Club Lounge.
