Call it the most family-friendly MSC cruise ship ever.
The world’s third-largest cruise line announced Wednesday that its next new ship, MSC World America, will have a huge family fun area on its top deck that will have everything from a giant water park to a ropes course and rock climbing wall.
Called The Harbour, the sprawling complex will target families like never before on the line, with a mix of water and non-water attractions, food and drink options and relaxation spaces.

It will also offer live musical performances designed to entertain parents while their children play on the attractions around them.
The new zone will begin in April 2025 as MSC World Americas will begin sailing out of Miami.
Currently under construction at a shipyard in France, MSC World America will be the largest MSC cruise ship ever to sail to North America and one of the largest ships from any line to sail to the region.
Measuring 216,000 gross tons, she will be the world’s seventh-largest cruise ship when she debuts. Only Royal Caribbean’s recently unveiled Icon of the Seas — the world’s largest cruise ship — and Royal Caribbean’s six massive Oasis Class ships are bigger.
MSC Cruises designed MSC World Americas to appeal specifically to North Americans looking for a megaship experience. While sailing out of Miami, she will compete with Icon of the Seas and Carnival Celebration, one of Carnival Cruise Line’s largest ships, in a battle royale for megaship-loving family cruisers.

Like those two ships, it will be packed with onboard restaurants, bars, lounges and top-deck attractions, many of which are aimed at families.
As part of Wednesday’s announcement, MSC Cruises said the new Harbor Family Zone aboard MSC World Americas will include:
- Harbor Aquapark is a watery play zone with four waterslides, including a 90-degree vertical drop slide that begins with a freefall through a trap door.
- Joe Drop @ The Spiral, an 11-deck-high dry slide that spirals down the area to other passenger zones
- A rock climbing wall
- The High Trail Ropes Course, a two-level ropes course that spans 6,210 square feet and includes two “sky rails” that resemble zip lines.
- Harbor Light House, a children’s themed playground modeled after the lighthouse at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, MSC Cruises’ private island in the Bahamas
- Harbor Bar & Bites, a family-friendly grab-and-go eatery
- A family residence, with family-friendly seating
- Cliffhanger, an overwater swing ride that MSC Cruises announced for the ship earlier this year
The harbor will be one of three adjacent family-friendly areas on the ship that will be collectively known as the Family Aventura District. The other two areas are the Doraemon Kids Program Zone, which will have seven different children’s rooms, and a multiuse pavilion for sportsplex, bumper cars, rollerblading and other family-friendly activities.
MSC World America will also have six pools and 14 hot tubs, making it one of the most pool-covered ships at sea.
For the summer of 2025, MSC World Americas will sail on Saturdays from Miami on seven-night Caribbean voyages.
