Points and miles can do wonders. This post examines the most unique travel experiences your rewards can buy. Not only are these uber-cool experiences, but they also offer decent value for your points and miles.
Spend a long weekend on Richard Branson’s private island
630,000 you can redeem Virgin Atlantic Flying Club points plus $5,700 to earn a three-night stay for two on Richard Branson’s Necker Island.
Necker Island is a 74-acre private island oasis east of Puerto Rico in the British Virgin Islands. The resort can sleep up to 40 people in a total of 15 rooms. Amenities include an infinity pool, quiet relaxation areas, several bars, elegant dining spaces, lawn games, tennis courts, water sports and a hot tub directly on the beach.
Bookings are restricted to those with Virgin Atlantic Silver or Gold status, although you may be able to match status with Virgin Atlantic from another airline or hotel program.
Check in to Etihad’s A380 apartments
The first airline to introduce a single aisle on the Airbus A380, Etihad Airways offers first-class “apartments” with incredible personal space; It allows you to move around within your private area. Each seat in the apartment has a wide chair and a separate couch that converts into a 6-foot, 10-inch bed. Nine apartments alternate between forward- and rear-facing; They also alternate between being near the window and near the aisle.
Rows 3 and 4 are ideal if you are traveling with someone, as you can lower the partition to connect the seats. It’s a three-room mega suite complete with a separate living room, bedroom and bathroom (with shower, of course). While you can’t book accommodation with points and miles, you can upgrade with cash.

Stay at North Island Resort in Seychelles
If you are sitting on a large hide Marriott Bonvoy Points, you can use them to stay at the incredible North Island, a luxury collection resort, Seychelles.
You will get to stay in a two-bedroom villa that covers approximately 5,000 square feet. Your stay will also include complimentary breakfast, use of the island buggy, morning yoga and children’s activities.
Award nights cost more than 400,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night, and require a minimum four-night stay at the hotel. This rate also does not include the 1,110 euros ($1,200 at the time of writing) that you will need to pay for helicopter transfers each way. However, with cash rates regularly exceeding $7,000 per night, this can be considered a great value – as long as you have a large collection of Marriott points.

Retreat to the all-inclusive, private Kelala Island Hotel
Callala Island is an all-inclusive, private island off the coast of Nicaragua. It is so exclusive that it has only four beachfront suites and can accommodate only eight guests at a time.
Room rates routinely top $4,000 per night, so it’s an absolute steal with points. The stay includes food, drinks, activities and airport transfers.
Showers on board in Emirates First Class
There is no way to redeem points and miles for private jet travel, however Emirates First Class is the next best thing. You can book these awards through Emirates Skywards, Qantas Frequent Flyer or Air Canada Aeroplan.
If you want to experience gold-studded suites and onboard showers and bars, you’ll want to fly on Emirates’ flagship A380 aircraft. If a modern sports car-inspired interior is more your style, opt for a game changer fully enclosed suite with Emirates’ new 777-300ER planes. No matter which plane you board, you’ll enjoy Emirates’ same high-quality food and drink (including caviar and Dom Perignon) and service.
With first-class flights between JFK and Dubai International Airport (DXB) costing 163,500 miles each way, Emirates typically charges a lower redemption rate than Qantas or Air Canada. You can transfer points to Emirates from six transferable points programs: Chase Ultimate Rewards, American Express Membership Rewards, CitiThankYou Rewards, Capital One, Marriott Bonvoy and Bilt Rewards.

Fly in style in Air France’s La Premier First Class
Another great first-class product is Air France’s La Premiere, which is exclusively available on some of the carrier’s 777-300ERs. The cabin has only four seats in a single row, making it one of the smallest and most exclusive cabins in the sky.
La Premier seats are elegant and private, with individual lamps on each seat and floor-to-ceiling curtain dividers. The food is world-class, and the land experience is unparalleled; Passengers are whisked off the plane in ultraluxe first-class lounges and private cars.
Unfortunately, this product is extremely difficult to book with miles. To book La Premier awards with miles, you must hold Air France-KLM Flying Blue Platinum Elite status or above. Additionally, eligible elite members can only redeem at the “flex” level (not saver), so a one-way ticket between the US and Europe will typically cost at least 220,000 miles.
If you’re eligible to book these awards, you can transfer points from Amex Membership Rewards, Capital One, Citi ThankYou Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Marriott Bonvoy, Bilt Rewards and Wells Fargo Rewards to Flying Blue.

Enjoy a double bed in Singapore’s first-class suites
If you’re traveling with a significant other, you can’t beat that Singapore Airlines’ A380 Suites.
Each suite is an impressive 50 square feet and has not only a reclining armchair but a completely separate bed. If you’re traveling with someone, you can join the two suites to make a double bed and have up to 100 square feet of space.
Singapore does not release first-class award space for the partner program, but it does make it available through its own Singapore KrisFlyer frequent flyer program. Unfortunately, Singapore Airlines will not fly its A380 to the US. cannot fly to, so you have to fly between Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) and LHR or Sydney Airport (SYD) to experience it.

Relax at the luxurious Ritz-Carlton Reserve properties
