Attention, American Airlines members: Now is a good time to check your American Airlines AAdvantage account, as you may be targeted for a bonus miles (or loyalty points) promotion when booking a flight in a premium cabin before the end of the year.

We’ve seen offers that can get you up to 20,000 bonus AAdvantage miles. Most people are not offered loyalty points; However, we have read some reports that members are getting the choice to earn loyalty points or bonus miles. Although earning bonus miles won’t help you earn elite status with American, the extra loyalty points can be useful if you’re pursuing elite status with the carrier.

Be sure to check carefully, especially if you need more loyalty points to reach your status goals.

To see if you’ve been targeted, log into your AAdvantage account, go to your account summary and click “Promotions.”

As you can see, my offer was 5,000 bonus miles after flying two premium cabin flights by December 19. Note that I need to book by 11 November.

The bottom line

Clint Henderson/The Points Guy

As far as we can tell, most AAdvantage members were targeted for the airline’s latest promotion. When it isn’t K As tempting as the offer is, we’ll always take more AAdvantage miles (or loyalty points, for some lucky members).
