This World Travel Market (WTM) London, regarded as one of the leading global travel and tourism events, will generate around £200 million for the London economy in early November. Scheduled from 5th to 7th November at ExCeL London, the 44th edition is expected to attract 40,000 travel industry professionals.

This year, WTM London is expecting a record-breaking number of exhibitors, with a 7% increase on previous years. More than 4,000 exhibitors – including tourism boards, hotel brands, transport providers, tech companies, associations and experience-based enterprises – will gather at ExCeL for three days of networking and business opportunities. It is estimated that the event will facilitate more than £2.2 billion in business deals.

Data from VisitBritain shows that international trade show attendees in the UK typically spend an average of £352 per day, which translates to an estimated visitor spend of £71.2 million for the event. Recent analysis by Deloitte further shows that every £1,000 spent generates an additional £1,800 in direct tourism value, resulting in a significant £200 million boost to the local economy from WTM London.

Around 82% of WTM attendees are international guests, contributing to London’s transport, accommodation and leisure sectors. While 40% of these visitors plan a three-day stay, around 33% will spend at least a week in the city, with 9% extending their visit to nine days or more, further increasing their economic impact on London.

Juliet Losardo, Exhibitor Director, WTM London, comments: “While the travel trade is busy curating £2.2 billion worth of travel and tourism deals during the World Travel Market, we are proud that WTM is also having such a significant impact on our host city, London. The range of accommodation, world-class cuisine and wealth of attractions that the city has to offer is a real draw for our attendees, many of whom use WTM London as an opportunity to tag along on a leisurely day out and splurge in doing so.
