Aman is known for its ultraluxury resorts and hotels found in some of the world’s favorite cities, such as Tokyo and Venice, Italy, as well as nearby destinations such as Utah and Phuket, Thailand.
Now, Aman has planted its flag in the Maldives and is gearing up for a new island resort whose launch date is to be announced.
Set to open on Wavu Atoll, the resort will offer 52 rooms and 16 branded residences designed by Carey Hill Architects, a longtime association with Aman, and the team behind some of the brand’s most iconic properties such as Aman Kyoto.

Although details about the resort are scarce, at least for now, we do know that accommodations will vary in size, with the largest option being a three-bedroom stand-alone pavilion. There will also be various restaurants, private dining venues and beach clubs.
Typical of the brand, Aman Maldives will offer a spa that spans over 8,500 feet and features two private spa houses, an Aman specialty that usually offers space for a private plunge pool, sauna or hammam in addition to treatments.

For those with enough pockets to consider investing in an Aman Residence in the Maldives, these properties will range from five to 10 bedrooms and will be located on private islands with private beaches, 82-foot swimming pools and individual landing jetties.
Aman fanatics longed for the Maldivian property, Aman CEO and Chairman Vlad Doronin said in a statement, adding that the tropical destination “has long been part of our growth strategy and reinforces the brand’s dedication to providing unique and transformative experiences in the world’s most extraordinary destinations. “
This new property is the latest addition to a strong pipeline that includes new hotels and resorts in Bangkok; Miami Beach, Florida; and Beverly Hills, California; as well as Mexico, Japan, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
Earlier this year we introduced the world to its new sister brand Janu. The first to open in Tokyo, Janu is centered around the community and social elements of the hotel, while Aman is geared more towards inner reflection and finding peace and tranquility during a visit.
TPG had the opportunity to tour Janu Tokyo this summer, and if it’s any indication of what’s to come for the new brand from the Aman family, we can’t wait to see what the next properties will look like.
