Few places on the West Coast have the same California beach vibes as Santa Monica, famous for its ride-filled piers, busy shopping streets and beautiful ocean views.

Recently, Santa Monica has experienced a bit of a hotel renaissance with several exciting new hotel openings in the works by high-end brands such as the Regent and Marriott’s independent Autograph Collection.

But now the former Le Meridien Delphina Santa Monica has resurfaced as the Hyatt Centric Delphina Santa Monica and is available to book with World of Hyatt points.

Better for those looking for an affordable trip to the beach, the hotel will undergo a phased $16 million renovation (during which it will remain open) of its 315 rooms, lobby and thousands of square feet of meeting space this fall. Also, it will introduce a new dining and bar experience.

The hotel also has an outdoor pool as well as a fitness center for guests to enjoy.

In terms of bookings, cash rates start at around $300 per night, while Hyatt’s Category 6 World can be booked for 21,000 points per night. Right now, the hotel is offering 15% off with the code “15OFF” or 17% off for World of Hyatt members using the code “MBRS15”. This discount is valid till 31 October.

The rebranding represents Hyatt’s first hotel in Santa Monica, although the company is well-represented in Los Angeles with hotels such as the Thompson Hollywood, Andaz West Hollywood and The Shay in Culver City.

Planting roots in Santa Monica is a smart move for any hotel brand right now, as travelers look to the area’s growth in some of the country’s most exciting hotel projects.

One of the most anticipated new hotels in the US is IHG’s Regent Santa Monica Beach. Set to be Regent’s flagship property in the Americas, the former Lowes Hotel has undergone a $150 million overhaul to create a modern Californian hotel that exudes cool and comfortable luxury.

Earlier this year, Sandborn Santa Monica, part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, opened the doors to its Gulla Jonsdottir-designed hotel, giving Marriott Bonvoy members a new beach retreat to book.

And with so many other hotels like Hilton’s Oceana Santa Monica, it’s not a bad time to head to Santa Monica on points and miles.
