At the 2024 Farnborough International Airshow, VietJet showcased significant advances in its fleet and strategic partnerships. The airline announced a firm order for 20 A330neo widebodies, joining a contract with Rolls-Royce for 40 Trent 7000 engines and a comprehensive TotalCare engine service to power the aircraft. This collaboration underscores VietJet’s commitment to leverage cutting-edge technology for enhanced efficiency and sustainability.

The Trent 7000 engine, developed by Rolls-Royce, has been designed with a strong focus on environmental protection and sustainability. They offer a 14% improvement in fuel efficiency per seat and significantly lower emissions. By integrating these engines, VietJet aims to reduce its carbon footprint, potentially avoiding one hundred thousand tons of CO2 emissions over the lifetime of each aircraft. The move is aligned with the airline’s broader environmental goals and commitment to sustainable aviation.

TotalCare, an industry-leading premium service provided by Rolls-Royce, uses advanced engine health monitoring systems to increase operational availability, reliability and efficiency for VietJet’s fleet. The agreement will also extend the airline’s existing TotalCare coverage for its Trent 700-powered A330ceo fleet, further enhancing VietJet’s operational capabilities.

In addition to its partnership with Rolls-Royce, Vietjet has further strengthened its long-standing relationship with Lufthansa Technik, the world’s leading maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider. The two companies signed an exclusive Total Component Support (TCS) agreement, marking an important milestone in their collaboration. The comprehensive multi-year contract, which begins in October 2024, covers 184 Airbus A320 family aircraft and 9 Airbus A330 aircraft. It includes comprehensive component services designed to maintain Vietjet’s operational excellence and compliance with the highest maintenance standards. Notably, this contract represents the largest TCS contract Lufthansa Technik has received in the Southeast Asia region.

Expanding its strategic footprint in India, VietJet now operates a total of 29 weekly round-trip flights, connecting Vietnam to four major Indian cities: New Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Kochi. This expansion highlights VietJet’s commitment to enhance connectivity between Vietnam and India, supported by modern fleets, dedicated crews and attractive promotions tailored to Indian customers.

This strategic initiative, announced at the Farnborough International Airshow, reflects VietJet’s dedication to operational excellence, environmental sustainability and expanding its global reach. Partnerships with Rolls-Royce and Lufthansa Technik, along with expansion into India, positions VietJet to meet the evolving needs of its passengers and continue its growth trajectory while maintaining high standards of service and reliability.
