Big news, Disney Cruise Line fans: You’ll soon be able to set sail on a brand new Disney ship from Fort Lauderdale’s Port Everglades.

Vacation giant Disney’s cruising arm announced Tuesday that its new Triton class of ships, the third ship in Disney’s Destiny line, will depart from a South Florida port when it debuts in late 2025.

The 144,000-ton ship’s deployment to the port will mark the first time Disney has placed a new ship in a port other than its main hub, Port Canaveral.

Disney quickly expands year-round operations out of Port Everglades. In November Disney began operating out of Port Everglades for the first time on its 13-year-old Disney Dream and, later, the 25-year-old Disney Magic.

The move coincided with the opening of Disney’s first dedicated cruise terminal at the port.

Port Everglades is only the second port in the world where Disney operates year-round – the other being Port Canaveral.

New hero-themed locations

Disney also announced on Tuesday new hero-themed destinations planned for Disney Destiny that will not be found on the previous two ships in the Triton class series. It includes a first-of-its-kind dining experience inspired by Disney’s hit animated film “The Lion King” and “The Incredibles” themed confection outlet.

As previously announced, the Disney Destiny will have a “Heroes and Villains” theme that will make it unique among the Triton class ships.

An ‘incredible’ sweet shop

The new confection shop, called Edna à la Mode Sweets, will take its theme from Edna Mode’s lab, where the fashion designer from Pixar Animation Studios’ “The Incredibles” films creates superhero costumes.

Inspired by the “Aunt Edna” short film, the lab’s modern sewing equipment will be “repurposed as a sweet-making mechanism for the entertainment of Jack-Jack, the unpredictable and hilariously unstable super baby,” Disney said in its announcement.

Other new locations

Other new locations announced Tuesday for Disney’s Destiny include two casual walk-up cafes near the ship’s central grand hall. One, Cafe Megara, named after the heroine of the Disney animated movie “Hercules,” will pay homage to that film’s world of ancient Greek gods and heroes. The other, Cafe Merida, will be inspired by the flame-haired heroine of Pixar’s “Brave,” invoking her family’s Scottish Highlands heritage with a Celtic-centric design, Disney said.

‘Hero-worthy’ cabins and suites

On Tuesday, Disney also revealed new details on cabins and suites planned for Disney’s Destiny, which it said will be “worthy of a hero.”

Each accommodation on the ship will feature artwork depicting the epic journey of famous Disney legends – a new theme.

As with all Disney ships, rooms will be family-oriented, with most offering Disney’s signature split-bathroom concept. Many will have connecting doors that allow for larger living spaces to be created.

Accommodation options will include concierge-class rooms with “Fantasia” watercolor-style artwork. Rooms will come with access to exclusive areas and amenities, including a concierge lounge and private sundeck.

Disney’s Destiny is not yet open for bookings, and specific itineraries for the ship out of Port Everglades have not yet been set.
