I’ve created this guide to the best food markets in London because the city has some serious street cred – from delicious Lebanese street food to spicy Jamaican
Londoners are serious about their food, and nowhere else will you find this more evident than in the numerous food markets in London.
In this guide, I’ve provided a list of the best street food markets around the city – from trendy pop-ups, vegan-friendly venues, and weekend-only food markets to the most famous markets in London.
1. Borough Market – One of my personal favourite London street food markets
If you’ve read my free things to do in London guide, you already know I love Borough Market! It’s arguably the best food market London has to offer.
I love it for many reasons, including the fact that it’s one of the oldest food markets in London.
There’s been a market on the existing site since the 12th century. Borough Market has more than 1000 years of history and is also one of the largest food markets in the city. It spans around 4.5 acres with more than 100 stalls to browse.
At Borough market, there is a delicious array of street food that will have your taste buds tingling.
While you can even spend time just walking around sampling food for free, be sure to support the local vendors by buying something from their stalls.
To make it easy for you, I recommend visiting the following stalls at Borough Market.
Try Khanom Krok for a taste of Thai street food. Or Padella Borough Market to carb-load on freshly made pasta or try the moist duck confit sandwich with crispy salad.
For tapas in Borough Market, visit Tapas Brindisa London Bridge – their wines are also fabulous and compliment their dishes.
And if you want to leave with some spices to add to your cooking, why not fill your basket up with some Jamaican spices and seasonings from Pimento Hill.
To satisfy your sweet tooth at Borough Market London, visit Gelateria 3Bis, a traditional Italian gelato shop. Although not inside Borough Market, it’s across the street, right next door to the Monmouth Coffee Company.
It is usually less busy than the market stalls, and the ice cream there is one of the best in the city.
Borough Market is one of the top markets in London, and you can expect it to be quite busy. So it’s best to know exactly what you would like to try beforehand.
To learn even more about Borough Market’s history and vendors, as well as sample food on offer in the market, I highly recommend taking a food tour.
I am a big fan of food tours. I have done food tours in Prague, Italy, and London and loved them all. I think they can help you understand and appreciate a country’s history and people.
If you are in the mood for even more tapas near Borough Market, then walk five minutes up the street to One Square and visit Duro Bar. It’s easily the best Portuguese restaurant in the area and an Instagrammable spot for photos.

The main market is open seven days a week.

Saturday | 8:00 – 17:00

2. Greenwich Market – Great food market in South London
If you’re looking for things to do in Greenwich, visiting this market is an excellent option.
It’s a little further afield but great if you’re in South London. Greenwich Market is a short walk from the Cutty Sark and the Martine Observatory and is in one of the pretty’s Boroughs of London.
It may not be a tourist destination like Borough Market, but this market is loved by the locals and is known for its locally sourced organic produce.
At Greenwich Market, you will also find the best Brazilian churros in London, mouth-watering Ethiopian vegan dishes, and weird ramen burgers at Pimp My Ramen. You can also enjoy tasty yam chips at Ngozi Kitchen (do get there early to avoid queuing).
Greenwich Market has a more upscale flea market London vibe to it. So, don’t expect super cheap things in this market.
You can even do a Greenwich food tour, which I highly recommend – check tour prices here

3. Camden Market / KERB Camden
Like the surrounding Camden Market in the Camden Stables, KERB Camden offers the hustle and bustle of traders and food stalls.
KERB, the street food Gods of London, is known for their inventive and downright crazy ass food trucks. KERB took over the Camden Food Market and elevated it to a destination for exciting high-quality food in London.
At the same time, they kept oldies but goodies like Shaka Zulu, an African restaurant and bar, and mouth-watering and belly-filling Roti House with their amazing curry-naan bread wraps. And Taiwanese lunch boxes at BIAN DANG.
Get your dog on (a hot dog, that is) at Oh My Dog. Here a simple hot dog just won’t do, and you too can have your hot dog dressed in homemade sauces (slow-roasted cherry tomato and vodka relish) on homemade demo-brioche buns.
Now, if that’s not making you hungry, I don’t know what will. If you’re like me and on a never-ending quest for the best calamari in the world, then visit Ink and try out their Szechuan squid. It will make all your calamari dreams come true.

Try out El Rancho De Lalo for the best empanadas in London, it’s always filled with locals, and you can get a set lunch for £7.50.
