Whether you’re looking for business-class flights to Australia and Asia or want to take advantage of Alaska Airlines’ friendly stopover policy, there are many reasons why you might want Alaska miles. However, note that the new award chart came into effect in March.

Let’s take a look at the details of this new Alaska Airlines Visa Card offer.

Alaska Airlines Visa Welcome Offer

New applicants for the Alaska Airlines Visa Credit Card can purchase one ticket and receive one ticket for only taxes and fees ($0 fare, plus $23 in taxes and fees) plus 50,000 bonus miles after spending $3,000 or more on purchases within. 90 days from account opening.

Based on TPG’s July 2024 Appraised, it’s worth $750 at 50,000 miles. Also, by meeting the same minimum spend requirement, new applicants will also receive a (heavily) discounted companion ticket by paying the associated taxes and fees.

It’s hard to pin down an exact value on a partner ticket because you can use it for essentially any economy ticket on the carrier’s domestic and international network (though not on partner airlines). This includes one-way, round-trip and multicity routing. However, it can easily put hundreds of dollars back in your pocket on your next Alaska flight.

The card has an annual fee of $95.

Why Alaska Airlines Miles Are So Valuable

Alaska Airlines has built a valuable frequent flyer program through a series of partnerships with several top carriers.

Amidst the insignificance of different partners who can provide outsize value (who know how to finagle eligible partner redemptions) and the ability to book free stopovers, the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan program is one of our favorites here at TPG.

Additionally, Alaska Airlines is part of the OneWorld Alliance, which adds additional partners to earn and redeem your miles.

Cathay Pacific

One of our favorite uses of Alaska miles is to book Cathay Pacific’s ultra-luxurious premium cabins. One-way awards from the US to Asia start at 85,000 miles in business class or 130,000 miles in first class — though availability can be hard to find.

Bottom line

This current offer on the Alaska Airlines Visa Credit Card may not be the highest ever, but it offers a great opportunity to earn miles without excessive spending requirements. Be sure to brush up The rules for applying for Bank of America cards, including the 2/3/4 rule, limit consumers to being approved for only four new cards in a 24-month period.

Alaska miles offer the best value for premium cabin redemptions. If you’re in the market for a new airline card, this is an attractive option.
