18th Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon, under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, To be held on February 1, 2025 at Al Marjan Island.
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Saeed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the UAE and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, the 18th edition of the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 1, 2025. The event will be held at Al Marjan Island and will be organized by Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA).
The Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon is a highly anticipated event that attracts community runners and elite athletes from around the world. In addition to the 21.1km half marathon, the event will feature races of 10km, 5km and 2km, catering to participants of all ages and skill levels.
Rakie Phillips, Chief Executive Officer, Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority said: “We are excited to announce the return of one of the most anticipated global sporting events to the Nature Emirates for the 18th year. The race never fails to produce world-class champions and we look forward to once again welcoming an incredible line-up of elite athletes, sports enthusiasts and tourists from around the world.”
The registration process is now open, and participants can take advantage of the event’s early registration promotion. By securing their places on the start line before September 30, runners can enjoy a special entry fee. The initial registration fee for the half marathon is USD 50, while the 10km, 5km and 2km road races cost USD 30, USD 20 and USD 10 respectively.
“With six months to go, we are delighted to be able to launch an early registration promotion for those runners who want to secure their place in the race of their choice,” Peter Connerton said, Managing Director of Pace Events and Race Director of the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon. “The running community will have more than three months to take advantage of the early registration promotion before prices return on October 1, and we look forward to welcoming early registrations from regular runners as well as those keen to test themselves for the first time. In February, Daniel Mateko of Kenya And Sigi of Ethiopia Gebreselama won the men’s and women’s titles at the 2024 Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon. The race currently tops the World Athletics competition performance rankings for half marathons held worldwide in 2024. Competing for the third time in Ras Al Khaimah, Mateko crossed the finish line in 58:45, five seconds ahead of teammate John Korir of Kenyawith another Kenya, Isaiah LasoiGot third place.
In the women’s 21.1 km race, Gebreselama beat her personal best by more than 30 seconds, finishing in 65:14. She was also followed by the 2020 Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon Champion, Ababel Yeshaneh, from Ethiopia. Tanzania’s Jacqueline Sakilu beat her personal best by more than three minutes to finish a surprising third.
