Until I earned Hyatt Globalist status for the first time in 2021, I thought the elite status of this hotel was overrated by many other travelers. However, once I earned Hyatt Globalist status and experienced the benefits for myself, I decided to qualify for the status every year.
This guide will outline everything I love about Hyatt Globalist status, as well as how and why you might want to earn it.
What is Hyatt Globalist Status?

Hyatt defines complimentary full breakfast as an entrée or standard breakfast buffet plus juice and coffee. Globalist members receive standard breakfast at hotels and resorts that offer free breakfast to all guests.

Free parking on free night awards

My dedicated agent is responsive via email, but I’ve also received fast and efficient service when calling the My Hyatt Concierge phone line and speaking with whichever agent comes up.
How to get Hyatt Globalist Status
Hyatt loyalists have two options Get Global Status:
- Earn 60 Elite-qualifying nights in one calendar year
- Earn 100,000 base points in one calendar year
Once you meet these requirements, you will retain Hyatt Globalist status two years later through the end of February. So, if you get Hyatt Globalist status in 2024, you will have the status by the end of February 2026.
No Hyatt credit card offers Globalist status as a benefit, and purchases on Hyatt credit cards earn bonus points (not base points). However, Hyatt periodically offers Double Elite-Qualifying Nights promotions, and you can earn Elite-Qualifying Nights with the Hyatt Credit Card as follows:
- World of Hyatt Credit Cards: Earn five Elite-qualifying night credits toward your next level of status each year, and two additional Elite-qualifying night credits toward your next level of status every time you spend $5,000 on your card.
- The world of Hyatt Business Credit Cards: Earn five Elite-qualifying night credits toward your next level of status every time you spend $10,000 on your card.
So, while you can technically earn Hyatt Globalist status through purchases on Hyatt credit cards, most members choose to earn many of their Elite Night Credits through investments and only a few Elite Night Credits by spending on credit cards each calendar year.
Finally, once they earn Lifetime status, Hyatt loyalists can enjoy Globalist status and some Milestone Rewards benefits without having to meet standard requirements. However, Lifetime Globalist status is only awarded to members who have earned 1,000,000 Lifetime Base Points.
Why I Love Hyatt Globalist Status
Hyatt Globalist status is my favorite hotel elite status. I prioritize maintaining Hyatt Globalist status to ensure I get the 60 elite night credits I need each calendar year. I get five elite night credits with me World of Hyatt credit card, and I spend $15,000 on my Hyatt card each year to earn category 1-4 free night awards and six more elite night credits. This gives me 49 elite night credits that I should earn each calendar year through investing and gifting guest of honor awards.
U.S. I often find good value at category 1 Hyatt hotels near airports and overseas. Granted, Hyatt Globalist status doesn’t offer many perks other than 4pm late checkout and access to priority rooms in my Hyatt Place stay near US airports. However, I have used the free parking on award night benefit to save money when staying in larger cities like Denver and Sofia, Bulgaria.
I often use the 4pm late checkout benefit to work from the hotel before taking an evening flight. I also like knowing that breakfast will be included without me checking the program terms and conditions before each stay (compared to complex Marriott Elite breakfast benefits). I appreciate being able to apply a suite upgrade award as soon as I book a stay, even if the stay is several months in the future.
But perhaps most of all, I find comfort in knowing that I can rely on my Hyatt Concierge staff to handle any issues. I have always received a quick and satisfactory response, whether I call the general concierge line with an urgent problem or email my assigned concierge with a less urgent need. Compared to my experience calling other hotel loyalty programs as a high-level elite member, working with Hyatt as a global member to resolve issues has been extremely easy.
Bottom line
Hyatt Globalist status is valuable, although it requires a large number of nights or money spent. If I had to choose only one hotel to have elite status, the Hyatt Globalist would be it. The benefits are unmatched by other programs, and I love knowing that any issues I have during my stay will be quickly resolved by the My Hyatt Concierge team.
It also helps that I can get good value when redeeming Hyatt points, thanks Hyatt Award Chart. Also, I have no problem getting Hyatt points because I can transfer Chase points to Hyatt. Of course, these last two facts hold regardless of whether you have Hyatt Globalist status.
