American Airlines confirms that espresso is back — and added to business class, too
American Airlines has confirmed to TPG that one of our favorite flagship first perks is back — and it’s rolling out to flagship businesses, too.
Espresso drinks are back on some American Airlines flights.
Passengers can now request specialty coffee drinks made in real espresso machines on some AA planes on international flights and premium transcontinental flights. This news was first flagged on X @xJonNYC and was informed by One mile at a time.
The airline is offering espresso drinks on Boeing 777-200 aircraft for the first time. Traditionally, American Airlines offered the espresso drink only in its true first-class cabins on Airbus A321T and Boeing 777-300ER jets, which are equipped with both flagship first and flagship business seats. It offers drinks from pod espresso machines to more airplanes and many more passengers.
Espresso is now also available on the American Boeing 787.
The airline discontinued espresso service during the Covid-19 pandemic and previously did not offer it to business-class passengers. It is now on Boeing 777-200, Boeing 777-300, 787 and A321T planes; It is also available in business class.

RELATED: American Flagship Firsts and Where You Can Still Find Them
The ability to order a stronger shot of caffeine was one of my favorite features in First Class. So, I am very excited, now I can do it in business class as well.
Nice to see the added touch of extra service as we look forward to the new cabin coming soon from American. The airline is ditching its first-class cabin for an overhauled business-class cabin — which will increase the number of premium seats — on all Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. It will also soon take delivery of the Airbus A321XLR with the new flagship business cabin.
