However, many others share that idea, and Caribbean beaches can get crowded quickly. Luckily, there are still some secret spots in the Caribbean where you can relax in your own little piece of paradise. Here are 12 of the best beaches in the Caribbean that still fly under the radar of most tourists.

Klein Curacao Beach, Curacao

Klein Curacao is a small uninhabited island 6 miles southeast of Curacao known for its white, powdery sand beaches and sightseeing. Diving conditions (read: scattered sets of corals and underwater caves). To get there, you need to hire a boat or book a tour with an operator eg Irie tours (It takes around 1.5 hours to get there depending on the boat you take). Playa La Vacama, Dominican Republic

You won’t have to fight for a beach chair at Playa La Vacama, as this off-the-beaten-path beach is in the northeast corner of the Dominican Republic, an hour’s drive from the main tourist spots. Punta Cana. The road for the last 2.5 miles is paved, so getting there is a bit difficult, but it adds to the secluded nature of the sandy spot. Once there, you will enjoy the coconut trees, white sand and turquoise water with few others in sight.

When you have to climb a rope along the cliff to get there, you know it’s a secret beach. And it’s definitely an adventure to enjoy the secluded nature of Anguilla’s Little Bay Beach. While it may be a harrowing experience when you access it, once you reach the uncrowded white sandy beaches, you’ll be glad you did. You can also take a chartered boat there, though you’ll miss out on the adrenaline rush.

No Name Beach, Klein Bonner

The small uninhabited island of Klein Bonaire, half a mile off Bonaire, has no buildings and hardly any people. What you will find, however, is a stunning reef, bright blue waters and pristine white-sand beaches. No Name Beach is protected by a national park, which means it will never be overrun with hotels and visitors. However, visitors can picnic and use the beach’s barbecue grills (you just have to BYO charcoal).

TPG Tip: There are no hotels on Klein Bonaire, however Eden Beach Resort Close to the water taxi on the main island, making it a great home base for exploring both islands. Rates start at $99 per night.

Half Moon Bay Beach, Antigua

The beach at Antigua’s Half Moon Bay is more deserted than others on the island because there are no signs to identify the mile-long stretch of pink and white sand. Once you find it, you’re ready for crowd-free fun. The beaches have something for all types of water sports enthusiasts: windsurfers can head to the center of the bay to take advantage of the waves, while snorkelers float around the calm waters near the edges.

However, the beach is one of the prime spots to witness the mesmerizing nesting rituals of hawksbills, leatherbacks and green turtles from March to October every year. While getting there is a bit of an adventure in the island’s mountainous interior, the journey is worth it.

A stone’s throw from bustling Cruise Bay, a mile-long walk through the island’s lush vegetation via the Lind Point Trail leads adventurers to this secluded paradise. Whether you take a left or right fork along the trail, both paths converge, revealing a charming sandy nook that extends just 25 yards. It’s a beach that’s often so quiet and untouched you’ll probably only find a few fellow sun seekers or, if lucky, have the entire beach to yourself.

Playa Escondida, Puerto Rico

Just off the picturesque Seven Seas Beach lies a secluded sanctuary, Playa Escondida.

Translated as “Hidden Beach”, its name says it all. From the left corner of Seven Seas Beach, a 1-mile trail through mangroves beckons explorers. Wander along this path and take a right when faced with a fork. Then, at the second fork, turn right once more. A short 10-minute trek rewards you with the first secret spot: Playa Colora.

After dining under the sun, retrace your steps, turn right and in about 10 minutes you’ll emerge at Playa Escondida, with its orange sand and promise of solitude. Just be careful here. “Swimming is not encouraged at this location as the area is notorious for its strong currents and tides,” according to Discover Puerto RicoThe island’s tourism board.

Wells Bay Beach, Sabah

Located 28 miles southwest of St. Maarten, the Dutch Caribbean island of Saba resembles a slice of Kauai thanks to its forest-covered cliffs that rise dramatically from the sea. And guess what? It has the world’s shortest commercial runway (only 1,312 feet!). But that’s not his only surprise. In just 5 square miles, you’ll find everything from misty forests to golden beaches.

Barbary Beach in Freeport, Bahamas, is on the southwest coast of Grand Bahama. It is a tranquil stretch of powdery white sand surrounded by lush casuarina trees and crystal-clear turquoise waters. Getting there feels like a treasure hunt, driving through abandoned roads and parking on what looks like a washed-out road. But once you get through the trees, you’ll be rewarded with pristine beauty and unparalleled solitude. On a good day, your only company might be a family of four strolling along the shore. The shallow waters are perfect for wading or a calm swim, while the surrounding dunes create a picture-perfect backdrop.
