Hyatt’s world now extends to one of the world’s top LGBTQ+ vacation destinations, but the town shouldn’t raise its antichain pitchforks just yet.
AWOL ProvincetownAn upscale boutique hotel in the far west end of Provincetown, Massachusetts, Mr. & Mrs. Smith is now part of the World of Hyatt thanks to its listing on the booking platform. The 30-room hotel is popular for being in a more secluded part of Provincetown. and features a lovely patio with pool, firepits and stunning sunset views. It’s a 20-minute walk or 5-minute drive from Peatown summer staples like Boatslip Resort and Tea Dance at the Beach Club.
While Peatown is known for its embrace of local, independent businesses (even CVS had a hard time approving there), locals shouldn’t take the news as if the Hyatt Regency is coming down on Commercial Street, an Outer Cape enclave. main road
AWOL’s participation in Mr. & Mrs. Smith and World of Hyatt is part of a broader push by major hotel companies to tap into boutique hotels in markets that don’t make sense for big, legacy brands like Hyatt or Marriott. Hilton has similar arrangements with Small Luxury Hotels of the World, and Marriott and Mandarin Oriental have pushed into smaller vacation destinations with their respective vacation home rental platforms.
Marriott already has a presence in Provincetown, thanks to its Homes & Villas through the Marriott Bonvoy platform.

Hyatt acquired Mr. & Mrs. Smith last year and has since added hundreds of properties from the platform to its World of Hyatt loyalty network. The hotel world is curious to see which of Mr. and Mrs. Smith’s hotels will join the Hyatt loyalty orbit and which will avoid.
The initial rollout includes 700 small boutique and luxury hotels worldwide, and Hyatt CEO Mark Hoplamazian indicated on an investor call earlier this year that the partnership is to be expanded to approximately 1,000 Mr. and Mrs. Smith hotels that also participate in World of Hyatt. But there are still some high-profile holdouts like California’s Post Ranch Inn and Aman Tokyo.
Whatever the partnership, one thing seems certain: even the more remote, bespoke and eclectic vacation getaways are increasingly turning to the orbit of points and miles.
AWOL Rates in Provincetown start at $200 per night during the shoulder season (May and June and after Labor Day) and are significantly higher during the summer – when available. World of Hyatt award availability is subject to dynamic pricing, but redemptions typically start at 30,500 points in the shoulder season.
