Rio de Janeiro, Brazil’s vibrant second largest city and Latin America’s main economic hub, is set to host the 19th edition of Roots America in 2026. This premier aviation event focuses on promoting the growth of air service across America. The announcement was made in Rio de Janeiro on 12 December 2024, with RIOgaleão, Invest Rio and the City Government of Rio de Janeiro leading the organization, supported by Visit Rio.

As an essential financial and commercial center, Rio de Janeiro is known for its strong and diversified economy that spans many sectors, including energy, telecommunications, tourism and entertainment. The World Travel and Tourism Council projects that in 2024, travel and tourism will contribute approximately $169.3 billion to Brazil’s GDP, an increase of 9.5% from 2019, and is expected to reach $194.6 billion by 2034.

In anticipation of continued growth, Rio has made significant improvements to its transportation and tourism infrastructure. RIOgaleão — Rio de Janeiro International Airport — now connects the city to more than 50 destinations worldwide. The airport sees significant passenger growth in 2024, fueled by growing global interest in Rio’s diverse offerings.
